Last Year's Robotics Team10/31/2017 For our first blog post, we decided to quickly sum up our last year. Last year, our team was made up of Anna Takis, Whitney Bowen, Eleanor Nuechterlein, and Hollis Cutler. All of us were new to robotics, so it was an experience to start off. We spent a lot of time struggling in the beginning, and only had a base for a decent portion of the fall. For our first tournament, we ended up driving a friend's robot (they weren't able to make it to the tournament). We finished second in the tournament, and we were so motivated by how much fun the tournament was, that we spent the next two weeks in the robotic's room during all of our free time. We spent lunch blocks, before and after school, and free blocks in the robotics room, and at home we worked on online challenges and the binder. We were ready for the next tournament. We competed in a handful of tournaments finishing in the top 15 or 10 in most. We won out first tournament in Manassas Virginia in December of 2016. This tournament qualified us for both Virginia States and Nationals. While we didn't do great at either states or nationals, it was a great experience for our team.
